Mike Derrick
Managing Director
Mike Derrick is a managing director. Mike's career as an Accounting and Finance Professional began in the energy sector upon graduation from the University of Texas in 1975. After serving in various capacities with Elf, one of the world's top 5 energy firms, Mike assumed the role of Divisional Controller in 1982 for the Oil and Gas Division of North American Royalties, a $300 million publicly traded company that also included a large manufacturing arm tied to the domestic auto industry. Soon after participating in the Company's successful transition from a public to a private firm Mike, in 1993, assumed the Corporate Controller's position of what quickly grew to a $500 million corporation. Mike returned to Texas in 1998 as Controller and Treasurer for Norwood Promotional Products, the country's largest supplier of ad specialty and promotional products. After also participating in the transition of Norwood to a privately owned firm Mike became an integral member of its Mergers & Acquisitions team during which, in 1999, the Company acquired 9 industry related companies allowing it to enter 2000 as a $500 million corporation and firmly establishing itself as the world's largest company in its industry.
Eager to pursue an entrepreneurial instinct after the Company relocated out-of-state and being keenly aware of the opportunities to represent the rapidly growing small to mid-market sector of the Austin and Central Texas market, Mike founded and opened our VR Mergers & Acquisitions location in 2004.
